I have 190 gigs used on my drive so it's
an all night process. I guess you could do it every
night. I personally use a file backup program for small
daily backups to an FTP server and Drive Backup on the
first of the month.

Drive Backup was easy
to use and install. A system reboot is necessary after
the install. I had my backup going in a minute and did
not even use the wizard. However I recommend stepping
through it simply because it shows you all the options
available.
Drive Backup is a different kind of animal
when it comes to a backup. Compare the backup restore
process with the aftermath of a hurricane. A typical
file backup would be the first aid and some help that
allow you to rebuild your house. Drive backup on the
other hand would be a time warp that restores your complete
system to a point before the hurricane. Your garden
would look just like before and the trees would not
be gone. You don't have to rebuild your system piece
by piece. Instead you replace the hard drive and start
the recovery boot CD. Instead of days you will have
your system back in minutes or hours.
 Don't
make the mistake to believe that your everyday partiton
software can do the same thing. Drive backup
allows you to restore a single file or a couple
folders using the Image explorer that comes with the
program. Also the Recovery CD it worth it's weight in
gold, ,probably more. Believe me when you need it -YOU
REALLY NEED IT!
One thing you need to realize when using
Drive Backup, is the enormous size of some hard drives.
Considering this, a backup can be loooong process. Backing
up to a USB2 device can is a good choice and it handles
about 150 gigs in 8 hours. The pro version and the server
edition can backup over the network . But calculate
the time that takes before you start.
While we are talking about how long it
takes to backup your entire hard drive. Drive
Backup has full sopport for CD and DVD spanning.
So you can backup a 150 gig drive to DVD. But since
you have to be there to change the DVDs that process
may takes days. As nice feature Drive backup allows
you to work while it backs up.
I found very little the Drive Backup series
of software did not do. Actually I can't think of any
missing features I use. I do like FTP backups which
drive backup does not do. But I don't think the Internet
is ready for 150 gig backups. Drive Backup should be
in your software library.
If you don't have a local, network and/or
it is inconvenient to record backup images onto external
media (like DVDs/CDs or removable drives), then the
backup images s can be stored in a specially secured
place on your hard disk. This place is referred to as
the Backup Capsule, which has an independent system
layout (e.g. a separate hard disk partition) that will
stay operable should the active file system be damaged.
To avoid an accidental removing or unauthorized access
to the disk's backup images, Backup Capsule is a hidden
partition and thus cannot be mounted in the operating
system. A single hard disk may contain only one backup
capsule. However, the user can attach another hard disk
with an existing backup capsule to the computer and
restore from that as well without any problems.
It is only possible to browse the contents of the backup
capsule by using special software. The system of wizards
that is implemented into Drive Backup is designed to
work with the Backup Capsule. Thus, by storing disk's
backup images in the Backup Capsule you obtain a reliable
level of data protection. For example, you could take
a full snapshot (with compression) of the system partition
at monthly intervals and schedule daily differential_backups.
To achieve the highest level of backup images protection
from unauthorized access, Drive Backup allows you to
encrypt them and set a password.
Paragon Drive Backup enables to archive only changes
in the partition's contents with respect to a complete
backup archive. Differential backup
archive requires much less space than the appropriate
number of ordinary full archives or backup images, thus
considerably saving your system resources.
Paragon Drive Backup provides you with fast and complete
system and data restore even from bare-metal state.
Restoring from disk backup image you don't have to reinstall
and adjust operating system and all your applications,
like in case of file-level backup. Using Drive Backup
you save your efforts, dramatically reducing restoration
time.
