Backup Platinum
Backup Platinum is one of the most complete
data backup programs I've seen. It includes not just
a CD-R/RW backup but a DVD-R write option as
well. DVD's are getting very affordable and hold up
to 9 gigs of data. That allows you to create a more
complete backup. Unlike some other backup programs I
tried these options are fully self supported in Backup
Platinum. There is no need to format CD-R or a DVD-R
media. Just insert a blank CD-R or DVD-R and Backup
Platinum will do the backup at the scheduled time.
Backup Platinum can be run as a service.
This allows you to leave your computer on over night
but you can leave it at the login screen. The backup
will run as scheduled. Backup Platinum also includes
a pre setup Outlook and Outlook express backup selection.
It's not only finding your .PST files but also all support
files, archives and even news groups. The registry backup
comes in very handy in case your system becomes infected
with spyware. With Backup Platinum you have an excellent
chance to get rig of these unwanted critters since it
can keep several generations of backups.
Backup Platinum is similar to Handy Backup
Pro. However it offers several features not found in
HB 4.0 or HB Pro. Owners of Handy Backup feel right
at home using Backup Platinum.

lot to offer starting with a very easy setup. Its backup
solution covers just about any storage media you have
available on a typical laptop or desktop system. That
includes native DVD-R/RW support. No need for packet
writing software or formatting. Add media spanning to
that and you can backup your entire PC to DVDs.
However as with most Windows file backup
utilities in case of a system crash you will need to
reinstall Windows and all the applications before you
restore the data. The shortcuts for Outlook and Outlook
Express are done very well and so is the registry backup.
Overall it's one of the stronger programs
I have reviewed. If you need to make up your mind fast
Backup Platinum is a program that will do the job and
probably has the features you forgot to look for.
