What our tester has to say...

ABC Outlook Express is straight forward. It does what it implies with very basic features. As such it's easy to install and use even for a novice user. It does detect different Outlook profiles and they have to be backed up separately. ABC Outlook Backup will save not just your PST files including the archive but also rules, signatures, accounts and any other parts of outlook. You can restore them back to your system in case outlook crashes on your computer or you can restore them to your new computer and don't miss a message, signature, rule or account. The backup file can be protected with a password. ABC Outlook Backup allows you to keep several volumes of backups but it's up to you to delete any of them.There is no scheduler. You have to actually start the program whenever you want to do a backup and it's your duty to close outlook before you start the backup. As with all other backup programs that do not have their own CD/DVD writer you will have to use a 3rd party packet writer or the CD writer features built in to XP. You can download a 15 day limited trial version. It allows for full backups but only the PST files will be restored.

What a difference $30.00 can make. I reviewed ABC Backup Express and the low cost made that program a reasonable attractive solution specially transferring express setup as a company setting and taking advantage of the site license. However, ABC Outlook Backup costs $30.00 more and really does not do anything more. It just backs up Outlook instead of Outlook Express. Again the few features that ABC Outlook Backup offers work well and reliably. It does not offer much for the money and you may consider a complete backup solution instead. But if you don't know much about computers and are really only interested in a backup of outlook that you can restore yourself it maybe worth looking at.
